All Wake Foresters seem to have a favorite campus place. It's a location that they most associate with what it means to be a student and a member of a wonderful community. For some, it's a first-year residence hall. For others, perhaps a lab space. For us, it's Z. Smith Reynolds Library.
ZSR is where we spent a lot of our study time as undergraduates. It played an equally important role in the academic life of our son. In other words, it had a multi-generational impact on our family.
Planned giving gave us the same sort of feeling because it provided the long-term, daily joy of association with Wake Forest. From the moment you make a planned gift, you are engaged with the future of our community even though the fruits of your philanthropy are not yet realized.
When thinking about the direction of our gift, we quickly honed in on ZSR. In our case, making the designation gave us the confidence of knowing exactly how our gifts will be used. It gave us the chance to connect with the administration and to get an idea of what our impact will ultimately be.
And it gave us an even greater appreciation of the library. ZSR is more than a collection of documents. It designs and operates its own courses, which teach students how to conduct research. It delivers community outreach with seminars and other events. It encourages student wellbeing in unique and innovative ways.
We have been fortunate to have the opportunity to live out Pro Humanitate by giving back to the institutions, communities and initiatives in which we believe most strongly. And we are proud to include Wake Forest in general and Z. Smith Reynolds Library in particular on that list.
